Fairtrade America/International Certification
The Fairtrade system secures better working conditions and better terms of trade for nearly 2 million farmers and workers worldwide. Fairtrade farmers are protected by the Fairtrade Minimum Price, which creates a safety net for farmers. When the global market for cotton drops and buyers rush to get a cheap deal, Fairtrade farmers are still protected with their agreed upon, above market price.
Beyond the Fair Minimum Price, a Fairtrade Premium, based on yields, is paid to the farmer cooperatives., whom democratically vote on how they would like to funds invested into their community, whether it be equipment, rebuilding the eco-systems, or community resources such as a water well, a grain mill, school supplies or health clinics.
Fairtrade supplies the proactive tools, training and practices for farmers and the community to run smart, successful and sustainable businesses and achieve Organic Certification.
Fairtrade is farmer-led, meaning that the farmers themselves are decision-makers in critical topics that affect their lives.
And Fairtrade champions women's rights...
Fairtrade is not a charity; it is a partnership. It is empowerment that lets us all grow together.

Global Organic Textile Standard Certification (GOTS)
The Global Organic Textile Standard is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including environmental and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
Organic certification means that textile and fabric are grown according to strict guidelines on the use of petroleum based fertilizers, pesticides and synthetic farming products. Instead farmers use holistic methods of farming including natural fertilizers, cover crops and companion planting to ward off pests.
Additionally, GOTS guarantees bleaching agents and dyes are of organic compounds, and that the water used, goes through stringent filtering and recycling processes before being returned to nature. Organic farming promotes, develops and sustains natural eco-systems.
The non-use of chemicals promotes healthy land and water eco-systems.
GOTS Certification ensures that harsh chemicals are kept out of our fabrics and food chain as well as defining and establishing fair working conditions and wages for factory workers.

Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification
FSC Certification ensures that paper products come from responsibly managed forests and resources. The principle mission is to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world's forests.
Believe it or not, over 10,000,000 trees are cut down per day world side. This directly affects the global climate, people and wildlife.
FSC's principles and criteria are to provide a foundation for all forest management standards globally, including the FSC US National Standard (v1.0) that guides forest management certification in the U.S.
Origanami believes strongly in the vision that we all can meet our current needs for forest products without compromising the health of the world’s forests for future generations.
And when you get a chance, plant some trees! It's good for you and it's good for the planet!
